Single barcode numbers now available from GS1
In 2007 GS1 Australia conducted extensive research into SME (small to medium enterprise) memberships as part of their commitment to meeting the needs and improving service levels to members.
Based on their findings the GS1 Australia Board of Directors approved a significant extension to the benefits of Single Number Membership effective from 1 February 2008.
GS1 are pleased to advise that organisation?s with renewable Single Number Membership have automatically been converted to the new offering, now called Single Numbers Membership.
Members with non-renewable Single Number Membership may apply to convert to the membership, as can other organisations/GS1 Members that fit the eligibility criteria.
Single Numbers Membership is ideal for small businesses with between one and five products that require barcodes, or GTINs (Global Trade Item Numbers), to enable electronic scanning at retail point of sale. Typically these companies do not require other services offered by higher GS1 membership levels (e.g. barcode numbers for pallet/logistics level identification or data synchronisation).
